Uffington White Horse Gallop

26th Jul 2026

Approved TRA permit no.8305

The Uffington White Horse Gallop is a unique and spectular trail running event, starting and finishing on the historic Ridgeway Trail, dropping into the valley of the race horse and passing Ashdown House, the Neolithic long barrow burial site ar waylands Smithy, and finally the iconic White Horse Approximately a half marathon with 1200 ft of ascent. There are two cut off points on the half marathon route. This is because the course cannot stay open indefinitely as this would not be fair to the landowners who kindly give us permission to use their land, or to the volunteer marshals. You need to reach the first water station (5.6 miles) by 10.50am and the second water station (9.5 miles) by 12.00 pm. Anyone reaching these cut off points after these times will need to surrender their number and will be offered a lift to the finish. These cut off times have been planned so that all runners should finish by 12.45pm, (3 hours 15 mins after the start). We want to give as many entrants as possible the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful scenic route and the cut-off times should allow for walking up some of the steeper hills. Please note however this race is a running event and not a walking event. If you’re not sure, why don’t you come and marshal one year and see if it’s something you think you can tackle. We would be pleased to have you join our fantastic marshall volunteers!
