The Copthorne Races

21st Nov 2026

Approved TRA permit no.8390

Organisers Statement: Modelled on the infamous Caesars Camp races, these footraces take place in Surrey, featuring a wide mix of terrain, woodland and contouring in and around the Box Hill, Mickleham and Headley areas. Indeed, the race name is a play on words as Headley was part of the Copthorne Hundred, an administrative division devised by the Saxons.rnrnThe races start at Mickleham Village Hall (Race HQ) with a new improved route of just over ten-mile loops (therefore the 50k consists of 3 loops), providing a cumulative of ascent gained of approximately 2,260 feet per loop. The route will be fully marked on the day with signs & tape. GPX files will be available to all entrants.rnrnFollowing the hugely succesful running of the event in 2021, we have added an extra distance to the races. We now offer a 100km race as well as the 50km, 50mile & 100mile options. Course Description: A 10.3 mile loop taking in Mickleham Downs, Headley Heath & Boxhill, through rolling countryside, woodland & the stepping stones. 95% of the course is on Trail. Course Navigation: Fully marked with sgns, tape & glowsticks at night. GPX fils are available to all runners.
