A 40 mile run with ~1300m of climbing in and around the Meon Valley. 20 mile/ 15 mile options also available. The course consists of a loop taking in Beacon Hill, Old Winchester Hill, Railway Line, with an out and back spur along the South Downs Way for the 20/40 miler. This event is held in memory of friend and ultra-runner Rich Walklate (run4rich.co.uk), on the same trails we ran on habitually in years past, often late into the night! Course Description: 15 - 15.8 mile (463m ascent)rn20 - 22.0 mile (712m ascent)rn40 - 40.6 mile (1266m ascent)rnrnWalkers are welcome in the 15/20 mile events. On the day you are free to swap between the 15/20 mile options. We don't recommend missing out on Winchester hill though, nice views!rnrnCourse Description:rnrnAll 3 courses will follow a clockwise loop starting at Swanmore taking in Beacon Hill / Exton / Meonstoke. 20/40 mile runners will continue on the South Downs Way on a cheeky climb to Winchester Hill. 40 mile route will continue on the SDW before completing a loop covering East Meon / Ramsdean / Butser Hill, returning to Winchester Hill on SDW. From Winchester Hill 20 / 40 mile route heads towards railway line on SDW avoiding Winch. Hill summit, then along railway back to Meonstoke.rnrnFrom Meonstoke, all participants will head back on the old railway line to Swanmore via Droxford. The finish will be back at the village hall where a hot drink and food will await you!rnrnA fine challenge for ultra 'noobs' and veterans alike! Course Navigation: Course will be marked throughout, with arrows/flags/flour as needed, and/or follow well established trails e.g. SDW. Marshals will also be sited at key locations. A .gpx file of the route will be available to all competitors prior to the race, and suggestions will be made as to what app would be suitable for use if desired.
