Dirt Half Challenge 2026

7th Nov 2026

TRA Permit Application Submitted - Pending Approval

Organisers' Statement: The Dirt Half Challenge has become a favourite on the UK trail-running calendar, known for its beautiful autumn setting, varied terrain and welcoming atmosphere. Starting in the historic market town of Leighton Buzzard, the course takes runners on a scenic loop through Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, along the Grand Union Canal towpath and over the rolling Bedfordshire countryside before returning via the Greensand Ridge – offering both challenge and breathtaking views. In response to growing demand from runners seeking a slightly shorter yet equally rewarding trail experience, we have added a metric half-marathon distance to the event starting in 2026. This new option complements the traditional 13.1-mile route, making the Dirt Half Challenge even more inclusive for runners of varying abilities and goals. Whether tackling the full classic challenge or enjoying the new metric distance, participants can expect an unforgettable autumn trail-running experience in stunning natural surroundings. Both races will be chip-timed and supported by experienced marshals, refreshment points, and an event village atmosphere. Course Navigation: The route is signposted and marshaled.
